Career goals, not self-achievement

Not a few new jobbers see their careers as the opposite achievement. The purpose of a career is self-development so that one day you will have a new ability to contribute to social life. With this way of thinking, you will not end up with a dead tree.

Sometimes, a person does not notice when the effectiveness of his work decreases until it finally stagnates. Maybe the new hires don’t feel this way because they’re still overwhelmed by the happiness of being a worker. But what about the next couple of years, is it still the same?

A large part of the cause of workers’ lack of self-development is the overcoming of their position. This creates the idea of a comfort zone where their lives revolve around the work. Eventually, they will accept the situation too much and be reluctant to seek new challenges.

Such things are not yet widely recognized by workers, so they still believe that career goals are an achievement. When they were able to gain a career, they already thought of it as the finish line for self-development. Although there are still many things you can do to develop other skills.

Keep your mind from getting tired of trying new things

It is not uncommon for a career goal to be to reassure a person by seeking the comfort of life, receiving a good enough salary and eventually getting married. The comfort of life is like a drug that can mislead the mind and make it unproductive.

However, putting too much pressure on the mind is also not good for the development of life. When entering the comfort zone, you can prove to yourself whether or not you choose to take risks in order to develop yourself. Some people may want to get out of the zone, but most people don’t.

It also depends on how you view the meaning of your own risk. Many people interpret risk as meaning that they have a great potential to fail. If you are too afraid of these risks, thinking about your career goals can be a way to gain comfort in life.

In fact, human instinct is born to seek comfort by making various innovations in life. But what if, in our day, we have all the comfort that man needs? Of course, there will be less and less passion for movement and innovation.

Career goals are self-development and what does that mean

In general, the way Indonesian youth make career choices is to look at what basic abilities they have. If someone had previously studied in the field of languages, surely his career choice is not far from that world. This has to do with its application to the theories that have been studied.

I try to apply what I learn while studying to the world of work. Prove whether what you receive during learning can be applied directly. There are very few things that can be applied in the field, so I am gaining new knowledge.

From here on out, the goal of a consistent career is to develop yourself, but what if you don’t have new knowledge? This is the cause of the number of dead trees that live only in Indonesian companies.

The comfort that this person gets is certainly contagious to other workers. So, without realizing it, the effects of this comfort zone can lead to an unproductive work environment. Efficiency may be yes, but getting new productivity is very rare.

This means that in order to live your career, you should not feel tired of suppressing your abilities. As bodybuilders liken without increasing the training load, muscles do not appear. After one load is successfully lifted, they have another goal to be achieved immediately.

By having this mindset, your career goal is self-development, not the finish line. The reason why we should continue to evolve is that the world does not stop at that point, but continues to develop dynamically over time.

This life dynamics doesn’t stop only when you don’t change the way you live your life. Someday, surely you will be left behind by being too comfortable in life. There is no easy shortcut to beating the rigors of life other than always struggling to grow yourself.

Idealism in career development must be a balanced rationality of thinking

Developing oneself must be accompanied by the rationality of thought, a person can be ambitious to achieve certain things, but still have to look at various factors. Even if you are still a newcomer, the motivation to pursue high things may be natural.

But think again about whether ambition is realistic. After working as an employee for two years, have you ever had the ambition to start your own business? This is realistic, but of course not because not everyone can learn marketing knowledge in such a short period of time.

How to Grow Yourself So As Not to Get Caught in Your Comfort Zone

In order not to be bound by comfort zones, there are actually many things that people can do. You can read the history of the person you wish to refer to. Finding a character that is used as a reference will certainly make it easier for you to do something.

Without a character to be used as role models, one will find it difficult to find motivation to develop themselves. As a concrete example, if you have never seen a successful person, it is impossible to wish to be a successful person.

Indeed, this is a very trivial matter, even individuals who find their motives out of hatred for the character. The desire to defeat a character can be a trigger for enthusiasm. It sounds like a cliché, but this is a fact on the ground that is happening right now.

The comfort zone does not apply if the motivation to grow yourself is successfully triggered. Whether you want it or not, it will continue to push your abilities to irrational limits. So increase literacy to know more characters you want to follow.

Don’t be afraid to try to get out of your comfort zone. Risk is not an enemy you should avoid in order to be safe from it. Instead, you can use risk as a stepping stone to achieving success. Don’t think that career goals are the end line of personal development.
